The Google Street View addon brings street-level imagery directly into the Gruntify web app. Once enabled, Street View buttons appear throughout the platform — on entity location maps, manager map views, and even alongside geotagged photos — so users can quickly inspect real-world conditions without leaving Gruntify.

The Street View experience opens in a modal window, keeping users within Gruntify rather than navigating them away to an external site.

Street View in Gruntify

This addon is available at no additional cost for Professional and Business workspaces. It requires a Google Maps API key with the Street View Static API and Street View JavaScript API enabled.

Enabling the Addon

To enable Google Street View, go to Settings > Addons and locate the Google Street View card.

You will be prompted to enter your Google Maps API key. This is a mandatory field — the addon cannot be activated without a valid key.
Click Activate to enable the addon.

Once saved, Street View buttons will immediately become available to all users in the workspace on the web app.

TIP! If you do not yet have a Google Maps API key, you can create one in the Google Cloud Console. Ensure that the Maps JavaScript API and Street View Static API are enabled for the key. Refer to Google's documentation for details on API key management and billing.

Where Street View Appears

Once the addon is enabled, a Street View button is available in the following locations across the web app. If the addon is not enabled, none of these buttons will appear.

Entity Location Maps

A Street View button widget is available on the location map of individual entities. Click the button, then click any point on the map to open Street View at that location.

The same Street View button widget is also available on all manager-level map views, where you can view multiple entities at once. Click the button, then click a point on the map to open Street View there.

Media Properties Sidebar

Street View button in the Media Properties sidebar

When viewing a photo on the Media tab of a request, job, or asset, the properties sidebar displays metadata about the image. If the photo has latitude and longitude metadata (i.e. it was geotagged when captured), a Street View button appears in the sidebar. Clicking it opens Street View at the photo's capture location.

This is particularly useful for comparing what was captured in a photo against the current or historical street-level imagery at that same spot.

Location Tab (Geolocation Requests)

For requests that use geolocation mode, a Street View button is available directly on the Location tab next to the coordinates. Clicking it opens Street View at the request's recorded location.

Using the Street View Modal

When you click a Street View button, a modal window opens displaying the Google Street View panorama at or near the selected location.

You can navigate within the modal just as you would on Google Maps — click and drag to look around, use the on-screen arrows or click the road to move along the street, and zoom in or out.

The modal retains your position within Gruntify, so closing it returns you exactly where you were.

When Imagery Is Unavailable

If the nearest available Street View imagery is too far from the requested point (more than approximately 200 metres), or if no imagery exists for the area at all, a message is displayed in the modal indicating that street view imagery is not available for the selected location.

This prevents confusion that could occur if the panorama automatically "snapped" to imagery far from the intended point.
