A Geofence is a digital boundary around a location. Using geofencing, Gruntify will create a virtual area around a job location in which field users can update a job.
For example, on the map below an asset is shown. Around the asset is the geofence for this asset. The gap between the Asset and the geofence is the buffer. There is also a margin of error for the GPS Accuracy, which is a value set in the mobile app to allow for how accurate GPS Data is in the user’s area.
To turn on Geofencing go into Settings, Location, and switch to the Geofencing tab. Turn on the Geofencing toggle button, then set up the size of the buffer. The buffer is in the default measurements settings (meters or feet).
Now with Geofencing turned on, users can only check in and check out of a job when they are in the geofenced area. If they try to check in or out, when they are outside the area, they will get an error message.
If you want your users to be able to override the geofence, then on the Job Template, turn on the Geofencing Manual Override. With this, the user will be able to override and check in / check out while an email will be sent to the team supervisor.
Watch the video below to see how this is done.
