Running Workflows and Workflow History

Starting Workflows

Action Menu

Manual workflows are run from the main Workflow Management screen. Find the workflow to run, go to the Action menu on the right, and select Run.

Automatic workflows (based on Asset, Job, or Request triggers) are only run automatically and cannot be run manually.

Only Workflows that are Enabled can be run.

Viewing Current and Past Instances

To view the history of when a Workflow has been run, or may be running currently, select Edit from the Action menu on the main Workflow Management screen. This will bring up the Studio Builder view. Switch to the Instances option displayed on the left.

The most recent entries are shown first, oldest entries last.

So for the list of nodes within an activity it reads backwards. To read in the order that the nodes occurred, read from the bottom to the top.

Failed Workflows

You will be notified by email of any failed workflows. To find them easily, go to the Instance screen and select “Failed” from the Instances drop-down menu. The reason for the failure will be shown in red. If the error is just a temporary error you can retry, otherwise, you will need to fix the problem and rerun the workflow.

Most of these failures will occur while you are developing your workflows. If you are having problems check the Task Errors list for details on the errors, and run through the Checklist to make sure there isn’t a logical error in the workflow. If you have a look at the list and cannot find an answer, please talk to your Gruntify Support contacts.

Remember, the Workflow is the definition of the Process, and when the Workflow runs it makes an Instance. So the Instances let you view current and previous runs and the Builder lets you build (and edit) the Workflow Definition.
