Offline Maps

Gruntimaps and Offline GPS

As you may be working offline, we recommend downloading your preferred maps to your device. Then the map options will still work and you can continue to process requests.

When a user is offline, they won’t have access to online map services to keep up to date with the environment around them. To keep Gruntify lightweight, by default, the application uses Gruntimaps: an easy-to-run, low-asset map is designed to provide high-level context to operate in the environment.

Step-by-Step Example

If you require a more detail-oriented map, below are instructions for how to download and use maps for any region you require using a map of Australia as an example:

All images are able to be expanded by clicking on them.

1. While connected to the internet, from the sidebar after logging in, select Download Maps

This example will download a map of Australia. Please instead select the country you will be operating in if it is not Australia.

2. Select the region you would like a map for.

For this example, we will select Oceania.

3. Navigate to or select the map you would like to download.

If you do not see your location as a downloadable map, please submit a support request and we will be happy to help.

4. Press the download button next to the map you would like to download.

You are required to have an internet connection to download maps. If you do not see a download button next to a map it means you do not have a connection and cannot download it.

5. Wait for the download to finish.

You will be able to see a selection of your downloaded maps here once they are finished downloading.

To delete a map, select it from this menu and a delete prompt will appear.

Offline Maps

Once offline, Gruntify will automatically use Gruntimaps if available.

Gruntimaps have more detail than the default offline map which can be important when working in locations without an available internet connection.

The only maps available if there is no internet connection are the maps downloaded earlier.

You can select Options > Basemaps to see what basemaps are currently available.

If you have any issues or do not see your location on a downloaded map when it should be there, please submit a support request and we will be happy to help.

The video tutorial below will explain how to select maps and how to download maps for offline use in further detail.

If you have any issues or do not see your location on a downloaded map when it should be there, please submit a support request and we will be happy to help.

GPS Information Map Function

In the Manager screen, Single tapping on the current location marker results in GPS Information appearing at the bottom of the screen as shown in the adjacent image.

This is useful when more information about your current location is required.

The Street Address shown on the GPS Info area is shown over multiple lines for clarity and can be copied to the clipboard using the shown Copy button.

When offline, this information is still accessible but is less accurate compared to when an internet connection is available.
